Video of the Week: Black Swan in Gan Guru, an Australian Zoo in Northern Israel

Ever since I returned from New Zealand in late 2009, many people don’t seem to understand why I want to visit Australia. Wasn’t I already there?

Close, but Australia and New Zealand are completely different countries. And while a plane ticket from Israel to Oceania is pretty expensive, I recently got to experience a bit of of Ausralia’s wildlife in a northern zoo right here, in Israel.

Located in a kibutz called Nir David, Gan Guru enables you to feed kangaroos, play with goats and stare endlessly at one adorable Kuala bear that poses for visitors’ cameras between naps on top of a tree branch.

I hope to see these beautiful animals in nature one day. Until then, here are 16 seconds of cuteness, a gorgeous black swan with a red beak. Enjoy….

What animal would you most like to see in nature?

  1. Beautiful Swan! We have a kangaroo farm opening near where I live in Canada this year. I can’t wait to get out there and play with some Joeys (that’s the correct term right?). Unfortunately, that’s probably as close as I’m going to get to Australia for a while.
