New Zealand Moment of the Week: New Zealand Has More Than Two Islands

New Zealand is famous for its north island, and even more – for the wild nature of its south island. Yet during my stay on the north island, I discovered New Zealand has many more islands – mini islands.

Some look like rocks. Some look like mountains.

Some are inhabited and some are not.

All of them are surrounded by mountains.

All of them are surrounded by unbelievably colorful water.

New Zealand Moment of the Week is my way of re-living the unexpected fairytale journey that made me a world traveler – and sharing it with you. Every week on All Colores, you will find one more moment of joy.

Stay tuned to next week for way more dramatic-looking mini islands. Where’s your favorite island in the world?

  1. I love your Friday looks at New Zealand. Having never been there, I enjoy looking at some of the amazing scenery. Sure makes me want to get out there one day. I might stick to the main island though. Those uninhabited ones look a little “jungle-y” for me.

    • Yes, definitely go to New Zealand one day! It’s super gorgeous there! Just a fair warning – we were there in spring and it rained all the time (sometimes when we were in the car, it stopped). However, locals did say it was the most rain they’ve seen in spring in years…. Maybe it’s better during their summer, which is your winter, but then you’ll miss the snow….
